Kodály: Dances of Marosszek
Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major
Brahms: Hungarian Dances (selected)
Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major
Liszt's 200th birthday is the inspiration for this exciting tribute. Liszt was renowned throughout Europe for his great skill as a performer. He was said by his contemporaries to have been the most technically-advanced pianist of his age, perhaps the greatest pianist of all time.
Flamboyant, daring, provocative, exciting, seductive and sensitive are some of the words used to describe one of today's most formidable pianists, Kemal Gekić, whose playing has been acclaimed worldwide by public and critics alike. Gekić, renowned for his performances of Franz Liszt's works, is a Yugoslav-American classical pianist and Professor of Piano at the Florida International University.
Maestro Wilson rounds out the program with a Hungarian flair – Kodály's Dances of Marosszek and Brahms’' Hungarian Dances.
