SYO/SCC 2017-18 Auditions: Join Us!

Event Start Date:
August 19, 2017
Event End Date:
August 19, 2017
Event Venue:

Springfield Youth Orchestras and Springfield Children’s Chorus will hold auditions on August 19, 2017 for the 2017-18 season. Auditions will be held at the John Legend Theater from 9am-11am.

For more than 59 years, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra (SSO) Youth Orchestra program has provided a quality educational experience for young musicians.

The Springfield Youth Symphony (SYS) provides ensemble and solo performance opportunities in a full orchestra setting through concerts and outreach activities.

The Youth String Ensemble (SYSE) and Youth Chamber Orchestra (SYCO) serve beginning and intermediate string players in a group performance experience that introduces members to string literature with a focus on ensemble skills.

And the Springfield Children’s Chorus offers a great ensemble for young choral performers.

Rehearsals for all three orchestras are held on Monday evenings in the educational setting of the John Legend Theater.

There is no cost to audition, but there is a non-refundable annual tuition fee of only $275, payable upon acceptance. Some need–based scholarships are available. Students are required to participate in their school ensemble programs, if available.

Home-schooled students are encouraged to become part of this educational experience.

With more than 100 young musicians from 39 different schools and nine counties, we have a place for you!
