This is a week-long program for young string players of all skill levels in grades 4 thru 9. Participants will learn from the professionals of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Wittenberg University's Center for Musical Development in private, small group, and string orchestra settings. Improvisation classes and electives of Composition, Fiddling, Dance, and the Science of Strings round out this opportunity for students to keep up with and enhance their skills over the summer.
The 2007 Kaleidoscope String Camp will be held at Wittenberg University from June 25-June 29. The camp culminates in a student/coach recital at 7pm on Friday, June 29 in the Turner Studio Theater of the Clark State Performing Arts Center.
An additional performance has been scheduled in conjunction with the Springfield Symphony's concert at Veteran’s Park for the Summer Arts Festival. Camp participants will provide pre-concert music for this annual summer event, starting at 7:30pm on Saturday, June 30.
