11:30am-1pm, Fridays, July 24 and 31, August 7, and 14
Join us for our annual Lunch on the Lawn event, a series of FREE, informal ensemble concerts located on the front lawn of the Springfield Museum of Art from 11:30am to 1pm on four consecutive Fridays – July 24 to August 14, 2015.
Special sack lunches are available for $6 (with beverage), while they last. Bring your own lawn chair or put down a blanket under a tree! Seating is also provided under an outdoor tent. In case of rain the performances will move inside the Museum.
Music for Lunch on the Lawn includes a mixture of classical and popular music by quality, diverse performing groups and artists. For our series opener we welcome one of the area’s premier storytellers, Bob Ford
. Bob brings his folk-song stylings with excellent musicianship and off the wall tales of a humorous and lighthearted nature. Also new to the series this year is Moment’s Notice
, a band with a wide range of styles including classic rock, R&B, country, jazz, and more. Moment’s Notice, which includes Wright State University Director of Percussion Jerry Noble, has opened for national artists such as the Charlie Daniels Band and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. We’re pleased to welcome back GoodVibes
with their smooth jazz, blues, swing and standard favorites. Closing out the series, Symphony musicians with Colvin Bear head up the SSO Woodwind Quintet
, a stellar ensemble of classical musicians who play a wide variety of enjoyable styles.
Bring the whole family, or stop in during your workday – Lunch on the Lawn is a great way to spend your summer lunch hour. Admission to Museum exhibits is free to event patrons after the concert!
