The Springfield Youth Orchestras will join with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in a special concert under the direction of music directors Peter Stafford Wilson and James Ledbetter.

For the third year, the Springfield Symphony and Youth Symphony will join, side-by-side, in a performance that will feature both classical repertoire and music associated with video games and anime. Music will include music by Beethoven, Brahms and Sibelius.

The winner of the Youth Symphony Concerto competition, principal flute and senior Anna Reisenweaver, will perform a movement of Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra by Liebermann.

This year, members of the Youth Chamber Orchestra and the Youth String Ensemble will also join in the side-by-side experience for part of the concert. Experience the incredible sound of over 150 musicians onstage together!

On stage pre-concert music will be presented by the Springfield Youth Symphony Percussion Ensemble, beginning at 2:40 p.m.

The concert will be the culmination of a weekend of workshops and rehearsal. This mingling and interplay of professional musicians and top area music students is a tremendous educational and performance opportunity. This showcase of our talented area young people with the Symphony will inspire the whole family!
