Some of the best summer memories are the simplest ones.
A warm afternoon. A picnic lunch. Friends and family gathered under the shade of a tree. Live music filling the air.
That is exactly what you'll find at Lunch on the Lawn, the Springfield Symphony Orchestra's free summer concert series at the Springfield Museum of Art.
Each Friday from July 31 through August 21, the museum's front lawn transforms into an outdoor concert venue where the community can relax, enjoy great music, and spend time together. Whether you're taking a break from work, meeting friends for lunch, or looking for a fun family outing, Lunch on the Lawn offers a welcoming way to enjoy live music in Springfield, Ohio.
Free Live Music for Everyone
The Springfield Symphony Orchestra believes music should be accessible to everyone. That is why Lunch on the Lawn is completely free to attend.
Concerts are held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the Springfield Museum of Art, located at 107 Cliff Park Road.
Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and find your favorite spot under a tree or beneath the outdoor tent. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the music simply moves inside the museum, so the concert goes on.
Special boxed lunches with a beverage will also be available while supplies last, making it easy to enjoy lunch while listening to some outstanding musicians.
Four Fridays. Four Unique Performances.
One of the things that makes Lunch on the Lawn so popular is the variety of music. Each week features a different ensemble, giving audiences something new to experience.

July 31 – Jim McCutcheon
A professional guitarist for more than 50 years, Jim McCutcheon has a remarkable ability to connect with audiences of all ages. His performances feature guitars, banjos, and other stringed instruments while sharing stories and music that celebrate their beauty and history.

August 7 – Bob Niederriter Trio
Kicking off Springfield Jazz and Blues Festival weekend, the Bob Niederriter Trio brings exceptional musicianship to the stage. Niederriter is a respected composer, guitarist, and arranger who has performed with renowned jazz and contemporary classical artists throughout his career.

August 14 – Good Vibes
A longtime Lunch on the Lawn favorite, Good Vibes returns with a mix of smooth jazz, blues, swing, and timeless standards. Their relaxed style and familiar melodies make for the perfect summer afternoon.

August 21 – RLJQ
Closing the series is RLJQ, an exciting Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble from Columbus. Their vibrant performances blend Afro rhythms with jazz influences to create a sound that is energetic, creative, and unlike anything else in the series.
More Than a Concert
Lunch on the Lawn is about more than music.
